Over the past few months, I have been put in a place where God has given me a piece of His vision for my life. The things that God has shared through many different people are very big and exciting. But recently, I have found myself beginning to doubt and question any and everything that has been shown to me. And I feel like I’m starting to sound like the Israelites during the Exodus.
We all know the story of the Israelites and the Exodus from Egypt. They were told they were leaving Egypt! After 400 years, they would no longer be slaves! They would be given an amazing land! They were told to remember all of these things and to pass their story along to future generations. But what makes this interesting is HOW God brought them out of Egypt. It wasn’t anything THEY expected. And it showed just how powerful God was and still is! Here is where I am finding my story within theirs.
Exodus 14: 10-14 (MSG) reads,“10-12 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and saw them—Egyptians! Coming at them! They were totally afraid. They cried out in terror to God. They told Moses, “Weren’t the cemeteries large enough in Egypt so that you had to take us out here in the wilderness to die? What have you done to us, taking us out of Egypt? Back in Egypt didn’t we tell you this would happen? Didn’t we tell you, ‘Leave us alone here in Egypt—we’re better off as slaves in Egypt than as corpses in the wilderness.’ 13 Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch God do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again. 14 God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!”
We’ve all, at some point or another, been given a gift or a vision of what God has for us or an idea completed. And at some point we go from thanking God for the idea, purpose, vision, or plan to wondering why things are so hard. Why aren’t things going like we thought they would? Why aren’t people acting the way WE want them to? Why isn’t God looking out for us during the process WE’VE drawn up for HIS plan?
Moses told the people to be quiet and let God do His thing and we all know what happened from there; Red Sea splits, they walk across on dry land, the Egyptians drown in the Red Sea.
But to really understand the glory, power, provision, and amazingness of our God, we have to go back to chapter 13: “17 It so happened that after Pharaoh released the people, God didn’t lead them by the road through the land of the Philistines, which was the shortest route, for God thought, “If the people encounter war, they’ll change their minds and go back to Egypt.”18 So God led the people on the wilderness road, looping around to the Red Sea. The Israelites left Egypt in military formation.” Exodus 13: 17-18 MSG
GOD LED THEM TO THE RED SEA ON PURPOSE!!!!
He set the situation up for HIS glory and power to be shown to them! Being that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, that means the process is still the same! You may be sitting at your Red Sea right now. You may be on your way to the Red Sea. You may be walking through your Red Sea. Things will look bleak. They will look dim. Either way, God has His hands on and in everything that is taking place in your life. It is our job to be quiet and let Him do it. That is exactly where I’m standing today. Learning to be quiet and let God do it!
I pray that this encourages you as much as it has encouraged me. Don’t be afraid or worried at what things look like right now. You’re right here, right now, on purpose. Trust Him and obey. He set it up this way!
Be encouraged today friends!
