When we look at the men that Jesus chose to make his disciples, we don’t see academic degrees or professional training. We see men who were temperamental, selfish, impulsive and easily offended. These men were a lot like us: Unqualified. Jesus didn’t care about where they came from, how much money they had or how much of the Law they knew. He wanted to use them. And He wants to use you.
God loves unqualified people. If you read about the disciples, you see Simon Peter, who once was impulsive, become bold in preaching about Jesus. You see John, who was once judgmental, become very loving. You see Thomas, who faced doubt, become courageous. These men changed as they followed Jesus. Jesus took the unqualified men that they were and qualified them to reach the multitudes. He wants to do the same with us. He wants to use us to reach the multitudes despite our lack of qualifications!
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you, and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
God loves to use flawed and broken people like us to do big things. Follow Him. Let Him use you. Let Him qualify you. He is not done with you yet.
Philippians 1:6 (NIV) “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
