The book of Proverbs mentions the word “fool” 40 times. I’d like to take the time to read through a few of them to show how simple it is to live a Christ-like life. And, how easy it’s been for us to be the “fool” in many different situations.
Proverbs – ESV (Emphasis added)
10:23 – “Doing wrong is like a joke to a FOOL, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.”
12:15 – “The way of a FOOL is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.”
14:3 – “By the mouth of the FOOL comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.”
15:5 – “A FOOL despises his father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.”
17:10 – “A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a FOOL.”
17:12 – “Let a man meet a she-bear robbed of her cubs rather than a FOOL in his folly.”
17:28 – “Even a FOOL who keeps silent considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.”
18:2 – “A FOOL takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.”
19:1 – “Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than the one who is crooked in speech and is a FOOL.”
23:9 – “Do not speak in the hearing of a FOOL, for he will despise the good sense of your words.”
26:1 – “Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a FOOL.”
26:11 – “Like a dog that returns to his vomit is a FOOL who repeats his folly.”
28:26 – “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a FOOL, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.”
29:11 – “A FOOL gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
We’ve all been a fool at some point or another. I’d like to simply encourage you to continue to be mindful of the actions of a fool and to keep gaining Godly wisdom because that is the ONLY way we will be able to live as God wants us to.
Don’t be a fool! Be blessed friends!
