Welcome to the real world. It’s a hard world where problems arise from every corner and present themselves at every opportunity. We often feel like Job, not understanding why we are being “singled out” or “picked on” by the devil. It can be anything from losing a loved one to financial stress to loneliness to spilling our coffee on our pants on the way to work. These awful things that come about can ruin our day, our month, our year, our life.
Have you ever thanked God for the hard storms?
I know some of you just rolled your eyes, exasperated and thought awful things about that sentence. No one likes to be in the middle of a storm, let alone be thankful for it. One would certainly have to put their pride aside in order to thank God for the bad things that have happened in their life.
Romans 5:3-4 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
Your sufferings, the pain you have been through, the problems and storms that have risen up against you in your life, have made you the person you are. And, that person is stronger and more powerful because of it. You have hope and the ability to spread that hope to those who are going through similar situations. Not only that, but the fact that you have come out on the other side of whatever problem or problems you’ve faced has give you a testimony.
I challenge you today to think back to the struggles you faced in the past and thank God for them. Thank Him for giving you endurance, character and hope.
