Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Think of someone you know that is not a Christian that you could share Jesus with. You might think of multiple people.

Ask yourself this question: Are they worth it?

It’s hard to talk about the Lord sometimes. We’re afraid of what someone might think about us. Maybe they’ll get mad, quit talking to us, make fun of us. But, the question is, are they worth it? Are they worth that little bit of “humiliation”?

Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked cities and God decided He was going to destroy them. He shared this information with Abraham and Abraham stood up for the righteous people.

Gen 18: 23-33 So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. Then Abraham drew near and said, “Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” And the Lord said, “If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

Abraham answered and said, “Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” And he said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” Again he spoke to him and said, “Suppose forty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of forty I will not do it.” Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there.” He answered, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.” He said, “Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.” Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.” And the Lord went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

God decided that 10 righteous people were worth it to save a whole city. Just 10.

He didn’t find those 10 people and Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, but not before getting the few righteous people out, Abraham’s nephew, Lot and his family.

I’m pretty sure the people of Sodom and Gomorrah had no clue what was coming. I have to wonder, if Lot had known, would he have spoken up? Would he have tried to get the people to change their ways? Would he have tried to save just one, and then another, and then another?

Jude 1:7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

The end is coming and none of us knows exactly when that is, but we’re running out of time. It’s time speak up. Because if we don’t – if we don’t speak, love people, take care of those who are hurting -, these people won’t know Jesus. They won’t accept Jesus and they are going to hell.

Matthew 25:46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

2 Thessalonians 1:9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power

Matthew 13:49-50 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Go back to that person you thought of. Are they your friend, your neighbor, your family member, you? Ask yourself, are they worth it? Cause all you have to do it speak. And who knows which way it will go but you will at least have done your part and God will honor that.

Sidebar: If you can’t think of anyone, you need to get out of your comfort zone. As Christians, we are called to the lost and cannot simply live life with our other Christian friends and never step out to those who are not Christians.

Please, watch the above music video. This is a song by Nickelback and I personally can’t watch it without wanting to do something. The lyrics say:

And say it for me

Say it to me

And I’ll leave this life behind me

Say it if it’s worth saving me
