Jesus is nearing the end of His discussion with the disciples. The time is drawing near when he will go to the garden to get arrested. In this chapter He talks about the Holy Spirit coming and about the sorrow that the Disciples are feeling. It will turn to Joy because He has overcome the world.

Regardless of tomorrow the Disciples will be full of Joy because their friend Jesus will fill them with the Spirit. Look at your own life, what things are around the corner for you this week or this month, or even later this day. Are you going to be able to withstand them? Are you going to run to the sins in your life that have taken you captive? Or are you willing to let go and allow God to pull you into fellowship with the Spirit and make those adjustment that are much needed in your life?

John 16:33“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

Christ is all about redeeming those who love Him. In my mind what this scripture tells me is that challenges, strife, suffering, and affliction are coming my way because they are inevitable in life. And because of that Jesus came. Because of that He has overcome the world. He has already won the battle. We are just here to claim the prize. How do we do this? We tell people what He has done, and why we serve Him. We tell people about the hope, faith, and peace we have because of Him. We love, with everything we have, those around us, just as Christ has loved us. And we work until the end.
